Rescue: Holocaust Remembrance Service - May 6

Rescue: Holocaust Remembrance Service – May 6

-posted April 30, 2024

On Monday, May 6, at 6:30 p.m., Indian Trail will host Rescue, a Holocaust Remembrance Service, in the auditorium. This is the first year it will be held at Indian Trail and will feature speaker Lynn Straus Denton, Holocaust survivor. In addition, ITHSA students will be performing, reading and showcasing projects.

Lynn Straus Denton is the daughter of Holocaust survivors Henry and Judy Straus. Her father was born in Germany and came to the U.S. at the age of 11. He grew up in a time in Germany when Jews were losing their rights, their freedoms and their safety day by day. Lynn’s mom was born in Germany, but moved to Amsterdam when she was less than a year old. She and her parents were interned in two concentration camps, and her father ultimately perished in Auschwitz. Judy and her mother came to the U.S. after the war when she was 16 years old. Lynn will introduce the audience to both of her parents, but will concentrate on her mom’s journey. Henry and Judy were both active speakers at the Holocaust Museum for many years.
